A park functions as a differential between city and nature—a place where people can balance and enrich their daily urban activities with rural and nature-based experiences.
In this way, Gateway Park weaves distant territories with local conditions into an extended, multilayered metropolitan experience. This contributes to giving the entire city character and a long-term vision.
Weaving becomes the guiding principle: the elements of the park - water, soil, and vegetation- are used in an integrated approach to connect three scales: Taichung’s infrastructure, the park itself, and its surroundings. In this way, new internal structures and ecosystems emerge, creating a hybrid form of landscape and urban space.
