Cheap and chic
The project combines many low-cost materials with some expensive ones: Industrial galvanized grating panels, exposed steelwork, reclaimed timber, light grey painted MDF surfaces on the one hand; frameless glazing and perspex on the other.
The chosen materials not only offer the performance-related qualities such as transparency, reflectivity and durability but they became the means to stay within a very limited budget. Yet by employing them differently, tweaking them into new innovative instances, they contribute to a sensual and engaging atmosphere.
