A platform from steel grating extends out whilst providing visual connections to the ground floor. It acts as an accelerator of light conditions.
The bathroom is developed as a crystalline transparent interface, allowing light to enter into the soundproof music room next to it.

Musicians' Home

Refurbishment for live/work -

East London - completed 2002

The extensive program for this industrial shell fit-out includes a bathroom, two bedrooms, a soundproof music room as well as working and social zones.

We introduced a single meandering wall that articulates various spaces yet mutates along its development to become storage, heating, mirror, cistern, window, insulation, wardrobe, stairs, bookshelves and so on. This in-between space can then be further claimed and altered towards future requirements, thus constantly stretching and varying its capacity.

In addition, the music room performs as a dressing room clothes in the wardrobe (within the meandering wall) act as sound insulation, while the space above the low ceiling contains a sleeping platform, accessible from a staircase/ladder within the double wall.
